Your birth experience isn’t just once in a blue moon—it’s once in a lifetime.
And you deserve support as magical and unique as you are.
Alex Lanphear, Blue Moon Doula
There is nothing more powerful and magical to me than birth, and being a guardian of your birthing space is not a role I take lightly. I pride myself on being your fiery, activist, witchy birth bestie that comes to every appointment smelling like incense, covered in cat hair, and carrying iced coffees for the both of us.
The core belief that Blue Moon Doula is built on is that young parents deserve to experience the magic that is unwavering birth support to the fullest extent.
As your doula, I am here to protect your space, your energy, and your magic. You will only experience this birth once, why not hire a doula that celebrates it as the spiritual event that it is?

FAQ
-
A doula is a person trained and educated in the physical and emotional course of labor and birth, whose job is to provide Emotional, Physical, Informational, and Continual (EPIC) support before, during, and immediately after childbirth.
-
There are multitudes of reasons to hire a doula!
Doulas support you through the entire journey, from pregnancy to postpartum, and specialize in all things birth.
Doulas decrease the likelihood of cesarean birth, and decrease the need for assisted vaginal birth. If you do end up needing or wanting a c-section, a doula can still provide information and support throughout.
Doulas decrease your chance of PPD/PPA by over 50%. By tending to your needs, we help you feel seen, supported and understood.
A Doula provides an extra set of hands throughout delivery! Birth is a marathon, and first-time labors can take 12-24 hours on average. You’ve probably heard the phrase, “many hands make light work,” and doula support is no exception. Adding extra support lightens the load on your team.
A doula is a professional advocate. We are the megaphone that you may speak your wants and needs through, the shoulder to squeeze with all your might, and the guardian of your magical birthing space. We know how to bridge the communication gap between hospitals and patients, and will always be in your corner.

I am very connected to both the moon, and the color blue.
In modern and past lore alike, the color blue is associated with peace, intuition, and trust.
These are the three main traits I aim to illuminate my practice with: Honoring and protecting your peace, helping you listen to your intuition, and facilitating trust between you, your baby, and your body.
In Ancient Greek lore, the moon is associated with Artemis, goddess of, among other things, childbirth. Artemis helped her mother deliver her twin brother, Apollo, when she was mere minutes old. Artemis’ story inspires me to be a warrior and fierce protector of the sanctity of birth.
